My clever response.
A girl on the-n.com’s message boards was on a rant on how pre-teens have been calling themselves hippies. I thought I share my response:
Well I've never heard anyone call themselves a hippie. You really can't be a hippie. You can dress like one but you can't make sighs to "stop the war" because the war was over 30 years ago. The style really is tailored hippie pre-teens who haven't learned what hippies really are don't understand that hippies were a movement against their friends dying in in the war, being drafted, losing your identity. Hippies weren't trying to be cool they were trying to make a statement. So in summary in 2009 you can't be a hippie.
